Hansel Allen and Simon Waite formed Joule in 2001. Having worked together with design lead consultancies over the past fourteen years based in London and Manchester, Hansel and Simon have extensive experience in providing high quality innovative designs.

The practice has completed the award winning residential and commercial developments of MOHO and Burton Place at Britannia Basin for Urban Splash, Aeroworks offices in Manchester, and Albert Shed Restaurant in Castlefield.
MOHO won the “Best Innovative Technology” National Homebuilder Award 2005 and a Commendation at the National Structural Awards in 2006.  Lumiere and MOHO won the MEN Award for best apartments buildings in 2006 and 2005 respectively.

Hansel and Simon have previously been involved at Director and Associate levels in landmark projects including, Urbis, No1 Deansgate, Timber Wharf, Budenberg, Deansgate Quay, and Piccadilly Basin. Hansel was part of the team working on the Manchester City Centre master planning and infrastructure design and rebuilding following the 1996 bombing, and the Great Northern Warehouse Initiative. In London Simon worked on historical building projects at the Tower of London, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Palace of Westminster, and the V&A Museum.
